OUR WORK

In addition to our work designing and realizing buildings, facilities, and interiors for the public sector, businesses and private individuals, the Alessandro Verona Studio, a firm believer in the benefits of urban regeneration, has championed, led and participated in numerous redevelopment projects, over the years developing an expertise in the field. This expertise is born of working in close partnership with public and private stakeholders, sharing our knowledge and ideas and managing the complex relationships and processes that characterize urban regeneration projects. And it is this shared, collaborative approach to urban design that underpins and distinguishes our work, which over time has also taken on an experimental dimension, most particularly in projects involving a permanent or temporary change of use of buildings and urban spaces.

This experimental approach also finds expression in our interior design projects for residential and commercial buildings and workplaces, each evidencing our continuous search for innovative approaches that both optimize and create new synergies between spaces and their functions.

INTEREST AND INITIATIVES

A champion of urban design innovation, the studio’s Director, Alessandro Verona, is a regular contributor to debates and forums concerned with urban planning, and currently leads the ‘Citta’ (cities) section of Future Forum, the think tank promoted by the Udine Chamber of Commerce. It was here, in the course of his analysis of the needs of the ‘Global Cities’ of the future, that he developed the concept of "Dithering Cities", which is to say, cities held back by an inability to take and act upon decisions or create the specialisms that will enable them to compete and move forward, a problem which currently besets many towns and cities throughout Europe.

THE STUDIO

The studio, which is located in Udine, in the north east of Italy, is situated on the first floor of a building of 1930s neoclassical inspiration. Within this example of Central-European architecture, inside what we refer to as the ‘gallery’, visitors can view a collection of models and materials used in our design projects which illustrate the concepts and ideas that have informed the studio’s work over the years.
